QCF - Qualifications and Credit Framework

New update, QCF now replaced by RQF(Regulated Qualifications Framework, see web address below for details.           https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/461298/RQF_Bookcase.pdf

        Qualifications and credit framework

    There are 9 levels from entry level to level 8

    All qualifications on the QCF are made up of units.

    Each unit has a credit value

    The number of credits indicates the length of time to complete

    A credit is 10 hrs so a unit with 4 credits would be 40 hours

The total credit value of a qualification tells you its size-

            Award

            Certificate

            Diploma

Awards are made up of 1 to 12 credits

        Certificates  13-36 credits and

        Diplomas 37 credits or more
